Licence plate recognition technologies (LPR or ANPR ) are an effective way to monitor parked vehicles in on-street and off-street parking locations. Employing either fixed cameras or mobile cameras (MLPR), Duncan can introduce significant efficiencies for parking enforcement operations by eliminating traditional chalking processes and enabling parking officers to review the length of time that hundreds or even thousands of vehicles have remained parked across the largest sites in a typical eight hour shift.
Fast, accurate and dynamic, LPR cameras can also be used to replace boom-gate technologies entirely and facilitate frictionless, flow in/flow out off-street parking sites with paid parking or restricted time zones.
Duncan’s mobile licence plate recognition system detects vehicles that have overstayed, alerts staff to each individual overstay, and provides them with accurate evidential data for law enforcement purposes. A configurable combination of automatic LPR and manual capture options means that more plates can be ‘marked’ over any given period, whilst maintaining the highest licence plate accuracy in the smart parking industry.
The roof-mounted LPR cameras can capture parallel, 45°, 60° and 90° angle parking, and the ‘four camera’ simultaneously cover cars parked on both sides of the street. In addition to being able to cover a far greater areas than the ‘chalk and walk method’ Mobile licence plate recognition cameras eliminate parking staff’s exposure to harsh weather conditions, sun burn, and repetitive strain injuries caused by the constant bending and physical chalking of vehicles tyres.

How It Works
Licence plate recognition technology is mounted on a vehicle and used to detect the length of time vehicles have stayed in a particular parking space. A Video Processing Unit (VPU) processes the mobile licence plate recognition results and displays these on an inboard, web-enabled tablet device. Officers monitor the device and are alerted to any vehicle detected as having parked for too long in a time restricted zone.
The ANPR system incorporates a GPS, WIFI and external modem with an APN SIM card for secure data communication.
We offer customised service agreements to meet our client’s technical support needs. Various levels of Software Maintenance Agreements (SMA) and extended hardware warranties are also available to suit specific requirements.
