Strathfield Council is a finalist in Excellence in Technology and Innovation (On Street) for the Smart Parking Integration we delivered together. Pay-by-plate meters, resident permits, in-field compliance and the back office work as one real-time system across Council’s car parks and on-street zones. A resident’s entitlement is recognised at the meter and by the ranger, without anyone displaying a piece of paper.

Our Permit Portal is a finalist in Outstanding Customer Service. It replaced a permit process that used to require a trip to the counter, and one council has handled more than 22,000 permit applications online in about a year and a half.

Natalie Windell, our Financial Controller, is a finalist for Women in Parking. Duncan is also one of eight finalists for Parking Organisation of the Year.

His talk took on one of the most common EV myths: range anxiety. With the average Australian driving only around 35 km a day, most motorists don’t need a long stop at a charging station. They need a convenient top-up in the places where they already park.

That is where Duncan’s integrated EV-charging parking meter comes in. By bringing parking and EV charging together in a single kerbside unit, it helps councils add charging to on-street bays without cluttering the footpath with separate equipment. It builds on Duncan’s world-first integration of an EV charger into a parking meter for Property NSW in The Rocks, Sydney.
